If you are transmitting to AO16, consider the following suggestion:
Transmit APRS messages to yourself. If they get through the whole
PACSAT-PAC-GATE-APRSSERVE-IGATE-DIGI system, then you will get a copy via
the terrestrial 144.39 system!
I wrote a quick program this afternoon that will send me a message every
20 seconds when AO16 is overhead (from work). The program inserts a time
stamp in the message. If my home station gets them, then I will see them
at home tonight... and know that it all worked.
You might also send messages to others you might want to inspire to get
involved. Today I also sent messages via PACSAT to all the other authors
of APRS. Brent Hildebrand (APRS+SA) got his copies and QSL'ed via EMAIL.
If you know of some AMSAT operator that has no interest in APRS then you
might send him a packet to EMAIL so that APRS will deliver it to him...
Let them see the power of the force....
:-)
Bob
P.S. remember you can even load a message in a BText and just let a TNC do
the work...
