Please don't be offeneded by my answer:

We are all new at this. This is an opportunity for experimentation. I
hope it can be done with an Omni and a preamp. No tracking (except for
doppler) required.
An OMNI will not work horizon-to-horizon, but since each ground station is
only a contributing receiver to a bunch of us linked to APRServe, it
doesnt matter if we miss a few packets... As long as we get most packets
when the satellite is close... bob
