I saw W9JIU in Tuscon on LO19. Actually, I didnt "see" him, cause I was
busy tuning, and tracking, and listening and thinking. Only later did I
notice on my screen that the last packet heard was APRS from W9JIU!
My 20 watts ERP to an OMNI is NOT showing great success via AO16/LO19.
Even though my downlink is still very marginal due to kludges and
newbeeism, I can at least "hear" sometimes when it appears that my packet
was digipeated even if I dont "print" it. But it certainly is no where
near 100%... Im gonna keep it vertical for a few more days while I
debug my downlink. Then may try horizontal.
Remember, the objective here is to determine the power and antenna and
Beacon rate such that one can guarantee at least ONE packet report per
pass. (At least for starters, anyway).
