[ao16aprs] AO-16/APRS planning
AO-16/APRS summary.
Once you get a PSK modem for AO-16, AND have it connected to your
mic-up/dn buttons then the modem will track the doppler throughout the
pass. BUT you still cannot do un attended oepratiosn unless you have a
station program that can pre-tune the radio to the upper edge start of the
doppler.
So there are three "levels" of working AO-16
1) Manual doppler. Tuning a SSB rig over 16 KHZ to stay within 200 Hz
A LOT of fun...
2) Doppler tracking. THis is built into most PSK modems to do the
doppler tracking automatically once it locks on via the up/dn buttons on
your rig..
3) Unattended operation. The HOLY GRAIL! This is what we need inorder
ot have the dreamed of worldwide automatic use of AO-16 and LO 19 for
tracking mobiles worldwide...
