PSK31 - 31.25 baud PSK for the EVM ---------------------------------- (C) Peter Martinez, G3PLX 1997. 31.25 baud PSK system - includes EVM code and PC-based user interface. This system is intended for weak signal work, also works well under extremely poor conditions. The emitted waveform is approximately 62.5 Hz (60dB down). Brief operating instructions: ----------------------------- 1) Use the EVM debugger or other loader such as "DL" to load PSK31.CLD into the EVM, type GO, and QUIT. 2) Now edit the batch file named "RUN.BAT" for your own callsign, COM port number, etc. Then type "RUN" to get the PSK user-interface running (you did switch serial ports at the EVM ?.) If all is well, you should see random yellow dots within the tuning indicator's circle. When you are tuned to a 1000 Hz carrier, the dots should focus on the top of the vertical bar on the tuning display. When tuned to a PSK31 signal, you will see the dots alternate between the top and bottom end of the vertical marker. You may make some fine adjustment using the left/right arrow keys, however, you may get to a point, some 15 Hz off frequency where only one of the dots can be found. Note that when you start a transmission and there is no data from the keyboard, phase reverals are sent continiously. You will notice that the output power will be at 50% nominal. As soon ar real data is being sent, power will start fluctuating a bit. Enjoy! Submitted by Johan Forrer, KC7WW, with kind permission from Peter Martinez, G3PLX. Thanks to Izak, PA0IHD for adapations for the EVM, and Paul PA0OCD for encouragement.
