FatPPS Pulse Per Second Conditioner

The FatPPS is a signal conditioner for pulse-per-second ("PPS") signals. Its primary purpose is to interface a PPS signal from a clock source so that it can drive a PC serial port and be used as a clock source for software such as NTP.

The FatPPS accepts signals at either RS-232 or TTL levels, with either positive-going or negative-going pulses. It lengthens the pulse to at least 25 milliseconds and allows the output pulse to be triggered from either the leading or trailing edge of the signal, and to be either inverted or normal polarity (units are shipped configured for positive edge triggering and normal output polarity).

The FatPPS is very small and fits into a DB-9 "dongle" case (included). It can be powered directly from the computer's serial port. Please refer to the FatPPS Manual for information about power options.


The FatPPS is available as an assembled and tested unit only. A plastic "dongle" case and mounting hardware are included.

Shipping and Handling

Shipping and Handling within the US will be by USPS Priority Mail.

International shipping costs are calculated as closely as possible. If the actual cost exceeds the estimate by more than $10.00, TAPR will contact you to get approval for the additional funds. TAPR uses insured Priority Mail International, unless the purchaser requires something else.

The FatPPS is fully assembled. You may need to use a small soldering iron to change the output polarity configuration via a solder-bridge jumper.
